Custom Illustration – Concept
The Rosenbach Museum and Library has a very rich history as well as a location in the heart of Philadelphia. Established in 1954, the museum and library is located within two 19th-century townhouses. The historic houses contain the donated collections of Philip Rosenbach and his younger brother Dr. Abraham Simon Wolf Rosenbach.
The brothers owned the Rosenbach Company, which was a prominent dealer of rare books, manuscripts and decorative arts during the first half of the 20th century. Dr. Rosenbach in particular was seminal in the rare book world, helping to build libraries such as the Widener Library at Harvard, The Huntington Library and the Folger Shakespeare Library. In 2013, the Rosenbach became a subsidiary of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation.
The buildings are a key character in the institutions story. Nestled on a quiet block not far from Rittenhouse Square, the Rosenbach brand identity required a custom illustration of the fronts of the buildings. The illustration is crafted to be used within their logo, as well as throughout their visual messaging.
